Have you ever looked at a map of England and wondered where exactly each Premier League team is located at?
England has approximately 92 professional football teams. Each competing across the 4 divisions of the Premier League and the English Football League (EFL). Out of the large number of professional teams participating, only 20 get to compete in the first division of English football, the Premier League.
The league works on a promotion/relegation format. This means that every new season, the top 2 teams from the EFL Championship automatically qualify for a spot in the Premier League, along with the winner of the Championship play-offs. The bottom 3 teams in the Premier League get relegated to the EFL Championship, essentially trading spots with the qualifying teams from the 2nd division.
As you can imagine, the league is extremely competitive. It leaves a lot of room for late-season drama, and every new season, a chance for promoted teams to secure their residency in the Premier League.
Here is a map of the current teams competing in the league’s 2024/2025 season (along with a brief description of each one).
